Disney has brought the roar back to CinemaCon with an exclusive first look at "Mufasa: The Lion King."

The prequel delves into the untold story of the iconic ruler of the pride lands and his villainous brother Scar, featuring voices by Aaron Pierre and Kelvin Harrison Jr.

Stunning footage showcased Mufasa's early years against the backdrop of the African savannah, set to the classic "Lion King '' overture. Rafiki's voiceover promises a tale of a lion who "changed our lives forever."

The film unfolds as Rafiki recounts Mufasa's rise to Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala.

Director Barry Jenkins, known for his acclaimed indie films, acknowledged the intriguing shift to a blockbuster: “You are probably wondering… what is the director of ‘Moonlight’ doing talking to me about an eight-quadrant tentpole legacy IP massive film? And I gotta say, the thought was very strange to me at first, as well. But oh my god. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life, and I’m so glad I made this picture.”

Jenkins also hinted at thrilling new music, though details remain under wraps: “They are handcuffing me. I can’t tell you who made those new songs, but they are absolutely amazing.”

"Mufasa: The Lion King" hits theaters on December 20th.
