Deadpool 3: What we know about the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman team-up
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will team up once again as Deadpool and Wolverine in the highly anticipated Deadpool 3.
After the pair's initial team-up in 2009's Wolverine: Origins, this film marks their official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Shawn Levy, director of hits like 'Free Guy' and 'The Adam Project,' takes the helm with Deadpool 3 scheduled to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
The star-studded cast includes Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Deadpool, alongside Hugh Jackman's epic return as Wolverine.
Emma Corrin joins the fray as the villain, with Jennifer Garner bringing Elektra back to life, and Matthew Macfadyen stepping into the role of Mr. Paradox.
Despite retiring as Wolverine after 2017's Logan, Jackman is making a return. He explained his decision on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show: "I was driving out, and it just came to me like that. I rang Ryan as soon as I arrived... I was a hundred percent sure I was out before. And then all of a sudden I was a hundred percent in."
Reynolds has promised the film will protect the legacy of Logan and also deliver Deadpool’s signature humour: "We’ve figured out a way to do it that’s Hugh Jackman-approved and Kevin Feige-approved where we’re completely protecting the legacy of Logan the way it was left off. I wouldn’t mess with that. I’m really excited."
Director Shawn Levy describes it as a "two-hander character adventure" equally focused on both Deadpool and Wolverine.
Filming for Deadpool 3 wrapped in January 2024. The first trailer premiered in February, with exclusive CinemaCon footage shown in April offering a longer preview. Highlights include Deadpool's interactions with the Time Variance Authority.
