Gunshots fired outside Salman Khan's Mumbai residence, shooters flee on motorcycle

Authorities have launched an intensive investigation to track down perpetrators

Early this morning, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's Bandra residence became the scene of a dramatic shooting incident, Times of India reported. According to Mumbai Police, at approximately 4:51 am, two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle fired multiple rounds into the air outside the actor's home before fleeing the scene.

The police have launched an intensive investigation to track down the perpetrators. Details remain sparse as the authorities work to gather evidence and possible motives behind the incident. A forensic team was also dispatched to the site to collect any relevant material that could lead to the identification of the shooters.

This incident has sparked a broader conversation about safety and security in Mumbai. Anand Dubey, head of the Shiv Sena (UBT), commented on the situation, stating, “Whether it is Salman Khan or any common man, no one is feeling safe in Mumbai and Maharashtra.” This statement reflects growing concerns about public safety in the region.

The incident follows previous threats against Khan. In March last year, Mumbai Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar after a threatening email was sent to Khan's office. Following these threats, the actor's security detail was increased to Y-Plus level in November 2022, and he was granted a permit to carry a personal weapon for self-defence.

As the investigation continues, Khan's residence remains under tight security and efforts to ensure his and the public's safety are being prioritised by local authorities. The incident has alarmed fans and residents alike, bringing attention to the challenges of maintaining public security in high-profile areas.

Earlier the Dabangg actor brought festive cheer to his fans on Eidul Fitr 2024 by making a special appearance from the balcony of his Mumbai residence. Dressed in traditional white attire, the actor stepped out to wave at the large crowd of admirers gathered outside, eliciting cheers and excitement. Accompanying him was his father, Salim Khan, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

This heartwarming interaction came just hours after Khan thrilled his fans with a big announcement. The actor revealed that his next film, titled Sikandar, is set to be released on Eid 2025. The announcement has sparked anticipation among his followers, eager to see their favourite star in another major Bollywood production.
