ENTERTAINMENT DESK:

Fans have been treated to a first official glimpse of "Captain America: Brave New World," the upcoming superhero film starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, the new Captain America.

Entertainment Weekly has unveiled images of two characters from the movie, following a special screening of early footage at CinemaCon.

One picture offers a close-up of Mackie as Sam Wilson, the shield previously wielded by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) clutched firmly in his hand.

A look of focused determination is etched on his face, hinting at the challenges that lie ahead.

The second image captures a tense stand-off between Sam Wilson and Harrison Ford, who steps into the role of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross.

Ford takes over the character from the late William Hurt, who last portrayed Ross in "Black Widow" (2021).

"Captain America: Brave New World" has a release date set for February 14, 2025 after its opening this year was delayed due to the actors and writers strike.

Though details about the full footage remain under wraps, some intriguing snippets of the scene showcased at CinemaCon have been revealed.

The preview depicted Ford's Ross welcoming Sam Wilson to the White House, acknowledging his heroic actions from "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier."

However, the celebratory atmosphere is shattered when a group of super-soldiers, including Carl Lumbly reprising his role as Isaiah Bradley from "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," launch a surprise attack on the White House and the President.

Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, offered a glimpse into the tone of "Captain America: Brave New World" during his CinemaCon presentation.

He compared it to the critically acclaimed "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which drew inspiration from the suspenseful thrillers of the 1970s.

Feige emphasised that "Brave New World" will follow suit, delivering a "fast-paced, grounded action thriller" that keeps its feet firmly on Earth, with "no aliens" to be found.

The cast welcomes back familiar faces from "The Incredible Hulk," with Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson reprising their roles as Betty Ross and The Leader, respectively.

Additionally, rumours swirl about potential involvement from Rosa Salazar and WWE Superstar Seth Rollins, though their roles remain unconfirmed.

Julius Onah takes the helm as director, working with a screenplay penned by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton.

The title itself hints at a more formidable threat on the horizon.
