One year on, family of slain breadwinner still looks for justice

Haseeb was shot dead by ruthless muggers during a robbery in Korangi last March

KARACHI:

The perpetrators behind the killing of Muhammad Haseeb, father of four and the sole breadwinner for his family, remain at large despite the passage of over a year.

Haseeb was shot dead by ruthless muggers during a robbery in Korangi last March, leaving his family devastated.

The case was registered by Zaman Town police, yet no progress has been made in apprehending the culprits. Footage of the incident from the CCTV cameras showed Haseeb complying with the robbers' demands, yet he was shot and killed.

His demise has left his three daughters and son without their father, who worked at a pizza shop in Clifton to support his family.

Despite assurances from police the family's quest for justice continues, compounded by the financial strain they now face.

Inflation and economic hardships exacerbate their plight, as they struggle to meet basic needs and provide for their children's education.

A video statement released by Haseeb's children during Ramazan last year underscores the anguish and unanswered questions they grapple with. They express their bewilderment and sorrow, questioning why their father was senselessly taken from them and how they will live life without him.

The plight of Haseeb's family resonates with countless others in similar circumstances, where loved ones have been lost to senseless violence.

Despite promises of action from police, justice remains elusive for many grieving families, compounding their trauma and suffering.
