Beyonce makes history as the first Black woman to top Billboard country album charts

Beyoncé's eighth studio album, “Cowboy Carter,” became the first by a Black woman to reach No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart.

Released on March 29, Beyoncé's eighth solo studio album also claimed the top spots on the Billboard 200, Americana/Folk Albums, and Top Album Sales charts, selling 407,000 equivalent album units during its first week of eligibility on the charts.

Upon its release on March 29th, “Cowboy Carter” also became the most streamed album in a single day on Spotify.

Before its release, the 32-time Grammy winner achieved a No. 1 country hit with the album's lead single, "Texas Hold 'Em.”

“Cowboy Carter” features a variety of artists, ranging from legendary figures such as Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Stevie Wonder, to contemporary icons like Miley Cyrus and Post Malone.

This achievement also comes after Beyoncé received the prestigious Innovator Award at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Reflecting on her journey, the versatile artist stressed the significance of pushing boundaries and embracing innovation in the constantly evolving music industry,

“My hope is that we're more open to the joy and liberation that comes from enjoying art, with no preconceived notions.”
