KARACHI:

With hardly a few days left to Eidul Fitr, shopping has hit the fever pitch with children's excitement highly palpable. Markets are bustling with families and their eager children, searching for the perfect dress and accessories for the festive occasion.

In various commercial hubs such as Hydari Market, Karimabad, Tariq Road, and Jamia Cloth Market, shoppers have been flocking since noon, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of Ramazan's final days.

Despite the challenges posed by runaway inflation, parents are prioritising their children's Eid shopping, even if it means tightening their own belts.

While speaking to The Express Tribune, shopkeepers at Hydari Market spoke about the current trends, with Khadi lawn suits for girls aged six months to six years priced between Rs800 to Rs1,000, and frocks for younger girls ranging from Rs1,200 to Rs1,500.

Boys' pants are selling for Rs,2000 to Rs4,000, while girls' sandals range from Rs1,500 to Rs2,500.

However, Eid shopping for children extends beyond just clothing and footwear. Colourful plastic glasses and watches, complementing the vibrant Eid attire, have become a major attraction for young shoppers.

From Spider Man watches to Barbie doll designs, children are exploring the variety offered in these accessories.

Parents, faced with the challenge of keeping up with their children's evolving preferences, find themselves browsing through a sea of choices.

Despite the lack of new designs in children's clothing stores, parents are determined to make Eid memorable for their little ones, understanding that these small joys are invaluable.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, parents expressed their willingness to prioritise their children's happiness during Eid, despite the economic challenges.
