Ford’s condition is reported to be critical while he receives treatment in an ICU.

Singer-songwriter Colt Ford, who co-wrote the famous country song, “Dirt Road Anthem,” has suffered a sudden heart attack in Arizona.

The singer’s condition took a turn for the worse after performing at Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row venue in Gilbert, Arizona on Thursday April 4.

The singer and rapper is currently in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa. However, reports state that his condition is stabilising.

Ford has dealt with several grave medical conditions in the past, including eye cancer and ‘myasthenia gravis’ – an autoimmune disease.

As a multi-platinum country artist, Ford holds an impressive record, known for being a pioneer in merging the genres of country and hip-hop. His original widely loved country hit with Brantley Gilbert, “Dirt Road Anthem,” was later covered by another renowned country artist, Jason Aldean.

Ford’s own albums include Ride Through the Country, Must Be the Country, and “Declaration of Independence,” which reached number one on the Top Country Albums chart.

Though the artist has tour dates scheduled in advance, his representatives have not confirmed whether the shows are still on.
