Actor and model Amna Ilyas took to her Instagram handle to speak up against the planned cinematic release of telefilm Hum Tum Aur Wo this Eidul Fitr, in which she plays a starring role opposite Junaid Khan.

Adamant that the project was always intended to be a telefilm and never meant for the big screen, Amna wrote, “It’s not a cinema film […] I signed a telefilm and expected nothing more.”

Amna hinted that whilst she could tolerate changes being made to the film throughout production, a theatrical release was a step too far and not something she was prepared to accept.

“Certain technical elements which were promised to me were changed when I arrived on set but I let it slide [...] but I cannot let this slide.”

Amna insisted that her stance was not related to the quality of the work, but staying true to the original format of the film and the essence of the script. She ended her post with a threat to take legal action if the theatrical release went ahead as originally announced.

As well as Amna and Junaid, Hum Tum Aur Wo features Raja Yasir, Saad Khan, and Neni Abbasi. Written and directed by Noman Khan, the film explores the lives of three friends across Pakistan.
