Transparency in testing board urged
Special Assistant to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Technical Education, Industries and Commerce, Abdul Karim Tordher has stressed upon bringing complete transparency in the examination system of the provincial testing organisation Trade Testing Board and ordered to make the entire process of obtaining certificates online for the convenience of students. He also directed the conversion of the traditional mechanism of the board into a paperless system.
He urged the board to ensure that vocational certificates provided under the Competency Based Training Programme are properly graded, while also stressing the importance of maintaining the institution’s reputation and significance. He stressed the need for the examination and certification system to adhere to high standards in every aspect.
The special assistant also directed the board to take possible steps to improve its financial position and increase revenue. He issued these instructions to the authorities concerned during his visit to the Trade Testing Board (TTB) in Gulbahar, Peshawar on Thursday.
He was given a detailed briefing regarding the board’s examination system, certificates provided in various trades, administrative issues and performance.
Secretary Board Qazi Fazal Ahad informed the special assistant that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was the first province in the country to enact its own act for the board. He also mentioned that the credentials of this institution had received international certification.
He said the mandate of the board was to conduct registration, certification and examinations in the field of vocational training, adding that during the financial year 2023-24, the board generated an income of about Rs70 million from various sources.
About 466 educational institutions of public and private sector are registered with the board. Similarly, certificates of different types of training had been issued to 15,317 students of government institutions and 14,224 of private institutions during the last two years.
During his visit, the special assistant also inspected various wings of the board.
