Anya Taylor-Joy confirms secret marriage to Malcolm McRae two years ago

Anya Taylor-Joy pulled a classic celebrity move by secretly marrying her partner, musician Malcolm McRae. The wedding, with a Southern gothic twist, took place in New Orleans on April 1, 2022.

The "Mad Max: Furiosa" star confirmed the long-rumored nuptials on Instagram, sharing photos from the special day, including "anatomically correct heart cakes".

"Two years ago, on April Fools, I secretly married my best friend in New Orleans," Taylor-Joy wrote in her Instagram caption. "The magic of that day is ingrained in every cell of my being, forever. Happy second (first) anniversary my love…you’re the coolest."

Taylor-Joy playfully referenced her role in an upcoming "Interview with the Vampire" adaptation, quipping, "Yes, I am the vampire Lestat".

The 27-year-old actress and McRae, a musician and actor, first met at the premiere of "The Queen's Gambit" in March 2021. They made their relationship public a year later at a pre-Oscars party.

Conflicting reports previously suggested a July 2022 courthouse wedding and a later "starry" Venice ceremony in October 2023. However, the couple ultimately surprised fans with the reveal of their earlier, intimate New Orleans wedding.
