GILGIT:
Tension gripped the town on Monday after a man was shot dead in the Basin area, while another was injured in a separate incident near the Chief Minister Secretariat at Chinar Bagh. “Atish Ali was killed in Basin while Nisar Ali was ambushed near Chinar Bagh,” a police official said, requesting anonymity said. The body of the deceased was shifted to district headquarters (DHQ) hospital for autopsy while the injured was admitted to the same hospital for treatment. The injured man belonged to Skardu town, hospital sources said. Firing in various markets in Gilgit forced shops to close down after the news of killing spread — the killing was the third in Gilgit this week. The Gilgit police declined to share information on the shooting incidents with media on Monday, saying that they had been officially barred.
