Dolly Parton prophecy fulfilled: Beyoncé reimagines "Jolene" on 'Cowboy Carter'

Country legend Dolly Parton had an inkling, and she was right! Beyoncé's highly anticipated album 'Cowboy Carter' features a bold reimagining of Parton's iconic 1973 hit "Jolene," complete with updated lyrics and a fiery new attitude.

Parton makes multiple appearances on the album. She introduces the trap-country track "Tyrant" and has her own playful "Dolly P" interlude before "Jolene," referencing Beyoncé's "Sorry" lyrics with a wink and a nod.

Beyoncé takes ownership of "Jolene," shifting from Parton's pleading to a fierce warning for anyone eyeing her man.  She sings, "I can easily understand why you’re attracted to my man / But you don’t want this smoke, so shoot your shot for someone else."

Parton celebrated the release, encouraging fans to listen to both versions and playfully calling herself "Dolly P." 

This collaboration signals mutual respect between the superstars, with Beyoncé channeling the fearlessness Parton embodied with the original "Jolene."

The album also includes a Beatles cover, "Blackbird," featuring Tanner Adell, and weaves in nods to other classics.  

Beyoncé sparked 'Cowboy Carter' after feeling unwelcome at the 2016 CMAs, showcasing her own take on country music.
