Popular streamer Ninja, real name Tyler Blevins, revealed that he has been diagnosed with melanoma.

Melanoma is a type of skin cancer that develops in the skin cells called melanocytes and usually occurs on the parts of the body that have been overexposed to the sun.

With nearly 19 million Twitch followers, Ninja, one of the biggest names in online gaming, in a message to his fans on March 26, explained a recent skin check identified a suspicious mole.

A biopsy confirmed melanoma, but doctors are optimistic due to early detection, he further said.

The 32-year-old added that he underwent surgery to remove the cancerous area and surrounding tissue for further analysis.

Ninja used this experience as a PSA, urging his viewers to prioritise regular skin checks.

The news sparked an outpouring of support from fellow creators, friends, and fans online.
