JARANWALA:

Local residents demanded action against police officers stationed at the Tariqabad and Lari Adda checkpoints due to the increasing frequency of incidents of theft and robbery.

A gang of suspected thieves has started looting citizens arriving by bus at the Tariqaba checkpost on Rajbah Road, allegedly in collusion with checkpoint personnel. The escalating number of robberies at the Tariq Abad and Chowki Lari Adda checkpoints was causing great distress to the locals.

One of the victims, Imran, claims that a gang of suspects engaged him in a discussion before robbing him and fleeing on Wednesday night. Imran approached the Tariqabad checkpost to file a complaint about the robbery, however the post's in-charge directed him to go to the police station instead of lodging his complaint.

When he went to the police station, they sent him back to the checkpost. Imran continued going between the checkpoint and the police station for two days, until the in-charge of the checkpost spoke to him in a harsh tone. Subsequently, Imran did not go to file the complaint again.

He alleged that employees at both checkposts are involved in the incidents of robbery at the passenger bus stands in the areas of Lari Adda and Tariqabad. For this reason, the police are not taking action against the suspects.
