Training for new teachers kicks off
New GCU lecturers to be introduced to modern teaching techniques.

Newly-appointed lecturers at Government College University will be trained in modern teaching techniques as well as time management, communication, stress management and lesson planning skills during a teachers’ training programme that started at the university on Monday.
The four-day programme titled “In-service teachers’ training programme for young lecturers” will consist of eight technical sessions.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Government College University vice chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleequr Rahman said such training programmes were considered a vital tool for improving standards of education at universities.
He said currently universities across the world were concerned with improving quality of their teaching staff. He added only by constant upgrade of skills could teachers hope to match competition and progress in their careers.
Earlier, GCU Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) Director Iram Sohail said the training would include lessons in education psychology where participants would be trained in dealing with problems they could expect to face in classrooms.
