Bugti Instructs administrative officers to be present in the field

QUETTA:

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has instructed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), district administration, and local bodies to stay vigilant ahead of anticipated rain and snowfall in Quetta and other areas. The directive aims to ensure preparedness for effectively managing potential situations.

Bugti also emphasized the presence of all administrative officers, including commissioners and deputy commissioners, in the field as part of their responsibilities.

He further directed deputy commissioners and municipal heads to take immediate action to clear rainwater from populated areas, ensuring residents face no hardships in their localities.

The chief minister maintained that in the event of shutdowns, heavy machinery should be readily available at the sites to restore communication channels. Furthermore, he stressed the removal of all encroachments and obstructions from the rivers for efficient drainage of rainwater.

He emphasised the need for a quick response in any emergency, suggesting that the entire situation be monitored from the control room. Additionally, he stressed the mobilisation of municipal services to effectively drain rainwater from low-lying areas.

He stressed that concerned departments should monitor electrical installations and ensure the maintenance of the electrical system. He also urged the public to exercise caution during the rainy season.

He advised people to avoid areas near water drains, deteriorating walls, and construction sites, as well as to stay away from electrical installations for safety reasons.
