No consent or permission has been sought: 'Tere Bin' makers speak up amidst rumours of Indian remake
Asad Qureshi and Abdullah Kadwani, the driving forces behind the globally successful Tere Bin, have released a statement in response to recent speculations about an Indian remake initiated by Ektaa Kapoor.
The Pakistani drama, created under the production house which the duo founded, has not only marked a significant milestone in the history of Pakistani entertainment but has also gained immense admiration worldwide, becoming a trailblazer for the country's content on the global stage.
Recent reports circulating in the Indian media hinted at a potential remake of Tere Bin in India. Asad and Abdullah, in their statement shared on social media, clarified that no consent or permission has been sought from the original producers or the channel regarding this matter.
"We take great pride in the international acclaim that this drama has brought to our industry, paving the way for Pakistani content to resonate on a global scale," read the statement. "The overwhelming love for Tere Bin and its characters has touched hearts around the world." It continued to state, "Recent reports of a potential remake of Tere Bin in India under the same title and storyline, though unconfirmed officially, have come to our attention. We wish to clarify that no consent or permission has been sought from the producers or the channel regarding this matter."
The statement further said, "While we appreciate the inspiration that Tere Bin has provided to audiences and producers globally, we emphasise the importance of any remake or adaptation being conducted with due regard to legal, ethical and moral considerations. We hold deep respect for our fellow producers and request that this fundamental professional courtesy should be upheld."
According to Indian media reports, Ektaa has joined forces with Colors TV, a prominent Indian channel, to bring the compelling narrative to the Indian audience. Reports suggest that actors Kanika Mann and Ayesha Singh are under consideration for the lead roles in the adaptation.
Ektaa, whose melodramatic flair in production and direction has become a staple of Indian drama serials, has heightened anticipation as to what Tere Bin’s Indian remake would look like. For all the changes that must be made, the Indian rendition is expected to retain the original title. The drama is slated to make its television debut in July 2024.
The news of a potential Indian remake has sparked curiosity among fans and industry insiders alike, eager to see how the narrative and characters of the project might be interpreted for an Indian audience. As the speculations continue, the statement by Asad and Abdullah serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration and ethical considerations in the dynamic landscape of global entertainment.
