Pakistani actor and host Yasir Hussain recently took to Instagram to shower praise on the crime drama film Chikkar, the directorial debut of Zaheer Uddin. Sharing his thoughts on the social media platform, he posted pictures alongside Chikkar actor Usman Mukhtar, TV veteran Noor-ul-Hassan and Yasir’s own co-star from his recent release Taxali Gate, Umer Aalam, among others.
The carousel post also featured video snippets from the cinema hall, offering glimpses of the film's impactful scenes. In an accompanying heartfelt message with the post, Yasir expressed his emotions after watching the film, saying, “Yesterday, I watched Chikkar. Beautifully written and directed by Zaheer Uddin. It was after a long time that I cried while watching a film.”
On a sentimental note, the Kukri actor furthered on, “I cried wondering what kind of nation we have become. How many innocent people did we kill, turning into mobs? And I cried because we forgot them after killing them.”
Yasir urged his followers to watch Chikkar, describing it as a “gift to the nation.” He emphasised the film's relevance for every film director, applauding the phenomenal acting performances delivered by Usman Mukhtar, Ushna Shah, and Nausheen Shah, along with the film's powerful message. “Love you all and thank you for making this film,” the actor relayed his gratitude.
Giving a special mention to Faryal Mehmood's cameo appearance in the film, Yasir lauded her performance as a standout element. “PS special appearance was really special, Faryal Mehmood,” he said, tagging the actor in the post.
The highly-anticipated crime thriller hit cinemas nationwide on December 22, 2023, with a gripping trailer released three weeks before. Speaking at the trailer launch, the writer and director revealed that Chikkar delves into the harsh realities of the society that everyone witnesses but no one dares to speak about. As per a press release, he adds, “It's a cinematic journey that explores the complexities in our country, promising a unique blend of suspense, drama, and realism.”
Set in a small town in Punjab, Chikkar is a social diary unfolding over 8 days and features stellar performances by Mukhtar, Shah, Mehmood, Shah, Saleem Mairaj, Ali Sheikh, Tipu, and other seasoned TV and theatre actors.
