Erin Holland pays respects at Hazrat Shah Rukn-e-Alam shrine in Multan

Pakistan’s favourite sports presenter is back in town to cover PSL 9

Australian sports presenter Erin Holland is back in Pakistan to cover the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League tournament. Roaming the city of Multan, Holland seized the opportunity to make a special visit to the historic tomb of Hazrat Shah Rukn-e-Alam.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Holland shared glimpses of her visit to the sacred shrine, showcasing the architectural marvel and cultural significance of the site. In one striking picture, she captured the intricacies of the historic domed ceiling from the inside, highlighting the timeless beauty of the structure.

Dressed in a tasteful plum co-ord set, paired with a complementary floral dupatta, Holland presented an elegant sight as she paid her respects at the shrine. One candid picture depicted her laying a traditional chaddar on the sacred site, a customary gesture symbolising reverence.

In the caption accompanying the post, Holland said, “When you google ‘what to see in Multan,’ the tomb of Hazrat Shah Rukn-e-Alam is the first thing that comes up… and boy, it didn’t disappoint.”

In a conversation with The Express Tribune in 2022, the sports presenter reflected on paving the way for women across the world to have unlimited prospects. “It takes time, I think,” she opened up. “But I am not just limiting this comment for women trying to make it big in sports. This, I think, goes for any profession. It's important to realise that it takes time.”

She furthered on, “In my country, women have been working their way in and it is so refreshing to see Pakistan is giving more opportunities to women in sports. PSL is making way for women in cricket and this is something we should applaud.”

She expressed hopes that one day, a young girl would see her or Abbas or Urooj Mumtaz Khan or Sana Mir and get inspired. “I hope these young women look at us and see themselves in us. We're all one people and we are all here to play this sport we love so much.”
