From Sonam Kapoor to Mira Rajput, B-Town shines in Pakistani designers at Ambani pre-wedding bash
The pre-wedding festivities of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani's son, Anant Ambani, and industrialist Viren Merchant’s daughter, Radhika Merchant, have dazzled everyone from Jamnagar and beyond. The Indian billionaire family, known for their uninhibited extravagance, have not disappointed fans, spectators and attendees by continuing their usual opulent celebrations with the right touch of eccentricity.
Unfolding in a span of three meticulously planned days from jet planes and protocol buses to transport to the venue to themed nights with carefully designed instruction manuals, the last Ambani wedding also shined a spotlight on fashion, glamour and cross-cultural linkages. To much delight, the international affair which gathered B-Town’s best and global bigwigs under the same roof, turned into a showcase for Pakistani fashion designers.
Faraz Manan, for one, featured twice in this three-day wedding bash. Styling his muse Ranbir Kapoor, still enjoying renewed fame after his controversial hit film Animal, in a dapper all-black suit, Manan’s craft was undeniable. Together with the actor’s familiar charms, he stole the spotlight with an exquisite design of black sequins and embroidered detailing. The A-lister’s stunning look caught the attention of fashion enthusiasts and went viral on the internet after he posed for a picture with Indian badminton player Parupalli Kashyap, shared on Kashyap's Instagram handle.
Not to be outdone, Mira Rajput, the wife of actor Shahid Kapoor, flaunted her style in a custom creation by Manan. Her pastel grey ensemble featured a rhinestone-covered top with lace detailing on a flowing quarter-sleeved blouse, paired with a snug skirt, made all the more enticing by a fabulous motif on the back - and a leg slit. In shoewear, Mira threw in elegant diamante-encrusted pink Gedebe heels.
Joining the roster of Bollywood stars embracing Pakistani designs at the Ambani wedding, Sonam Kapoor turned heads in a chic fit from renowned designer Hussain Rehar’s high street line, Jugnu. The outfit, aptly named Eclipse, originally consisted of a black halter sleeveless embroidered top and an ivory A-line box-pleated skirt adorned with black thread detailing.
As per Jugnu’s official website, the final touch taking the look to new levels of voguish comes from a black tailored trench coat sporting intricate embroidery in ivory - effortlessly stylish enough to sway the Sanju actor. However, adding a personalised flair to the Pakistani designer's creation, Sonam opted for a plain white top instead of the halter version.
