Karachi traffic is a nightmare: Wasim Akram gets why fans aren't showing up for PSL

Cricketing legend could not make it to the stadium himself

In a recent X post, renowned Pakistani personality Fakhr-e-Alam shed light on the chaotic and frustrating experience he and cricket legend Wasim Akram faced while attempting to reach the National Stadium Karachi. The duo, accompanied by other cricketing personalities, aiming to witness a cricket match, expressed dismay over the lack of defined routes, road closures with containers, and the ensuing massive traffic congestion.

Fakhr-e-Alam took to social media to share their ordeal, emphasising the need for authorities to devise a sensible traffic flow plan to facilitate the smooth movement of spectators. He pointed out that the cumbersome traffic situation could be a significant reason why the expected crowds were missing at the National Stadium in Karachi.

The accompanying video featured Akram, who echoed the actor's sentiments, labelling the situation as a "nightmare." Akram elucidated that after being stuck in traffic for an hour and a half, they had to make a U-turn and ultimately could not reach the stadium. The cricket legend expressed his understanding of why people might be hesitant to attend matches in Karachi due to such logistical challenges.

Fakhr-e-Alam further emphasised that if individuals with special passes and stickers on their cars, providing them with extra privileges, encountered difficulties reaching the venue, it raised serious questions about the accessibility for the general public. He underscored the added inconvenience faced by the citizens of Karachi due to the mismanagement of traffic arrangements.
