ICAO team lauds CAA’s performance

ISLAMABAD:

A team of the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) Universal Audit Programme-Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA) lauded Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority for the enactment of the CAA Act, 2023 and the resulting outstanding performance of the safety sector.

A four member team of the audit team, led by Oscar Anibal Rubio, completed its trip to Pakistan and visited the headquarters of the Pakistani CAA where it met its director general Khaqan Murtaza and the deputy DG regulatory.

The team briefed the CAA DG and his deputy about the audit it had completed of the Pakistan aviation industry’s security systems.

Rubio told them that Pakistan had not only easily achieved the new installation qualification benchmark of 2023, but also came very close to accomplishing the goals set for the year 2030.

The audit team reviewed the Directorate of Civil Aviation Security for five days.

Observations were made in connection with the implementation of the protocols in the documents for another four days.

A detailed audit was conducted on the procedures of cargo, ground handling, catering companies, etc. at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.

This on-site visit by the ICAO was the first since 2019.
