Did you know: Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan had three weddings
In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, producer Vivek Vaswani shared heartwarming anecdotes from the wedding of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan. Vivek, who played a pivotal role in facilitating Shah Rukh's career in the earlier stages, reminisced about the special moments and the close bond he shares with the iconic actor.
During the interview, Vivek revealed that at the time of Shah Rukh's wedding in 1991, the actor was still living with him at his parents' house. To celebrate the joyous occasion, Vivek gifted the newlyweds a five-day stay at a hotel in Mumbai. He further explained that after the initial stay, the couple moved to an apartment owned by filmmaker Aziz Mirza.
"As a gift, I gave them five days at Sun n Sand, and then they moved to Aziz’s house," Vivek recalled. Notably, he candidly shared that he had to borrow money from his father to fund this heartfelt gift for the newlyweds.
When asked about his memories of Shah Rukh's wedding, Vivek praised the festivities, highlighting the fantastic food and the overall joyous atmosphere. He mentioned that the wedding was a blend of Hindu and Muslim traditions, with a registered wedding also taking place on the same day. "All three weddings happened in one day," he shared.
According to various news portals such as News18 and Times of India, Shah Rukh and Gauri opted for a threefold wedding ceremony back in 1991. The couple initially registered their court marriage, then had a nikkah (a Muslim wedding). Finally, they concluded their matrimonial celebrations with a traditional Hindu wedding.
