PML-N Chief Organiser and the nominated chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, on Wednesday refuted speculations surrounding Nawaz Sharif's withdrawal from politics after he relinquished the prime ministerial position in favour of his younger brother, Shehbaz Sharif.

Taking to social media, Maryam asserted that her father and former premier Nawaz Sharif’s decision not to accept the post of prime minister should not be misconstrued as an avoidance of politics, adding there was no truth in the rumours.

Maryam declared that over the next five years, Nawaz Sharif would not only actively engage in politics but would also wield his influence and support governments at both the federal and provincial levels.

Highlighting the people's clear mandate in the three governments led by Nawaz Sharif, Maryam stated that he had explicitly mentioned in his election speeches that he would not partake in any coalition government.
