The latest Suicide Squad game has a Muslim American actor voicing Wonder Woman
Despite being the vital conduits for bringing characters to life, voice artists often don't receive the recognition they deserve. However, with the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, gamers are taking to the internet to laud one unsung hero, Muslim American voice actor Zehra Fazal.
Releasing to a humble reception with a Metascore of 60, the video game has garnered praise for Fazal who takes on the coveted role of Wonder Woman. Known for her impressive work in voicing various DC Comics characters, the artist took to Instagram last month to express her delight at the opportunity to voice Wonder Woman with a trailer.
“Honest to god, Zehra Fazal as Wonder Woman in Suicide Squad KTJL is one of my favourite performances in the whole game. Every time she speaks, I’m like ‘Yep THAT is Diana’. Really hope we get to see and hear her playing Diana again in the future,” read one post on the microblogging platform X.

The game, developed by Rocksteady Studios, is the latest installment in the highly acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, following the success of Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015. Set in the DC Comics universe, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League revolves around four supervillains – Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark – who are brought together to thwart the alien invader Brainiac and eliminate the brainwashed members of the Justice League. Wonder Woman, portrayed by Fazal, is featured as one of the Justice League members in the game.
Fazal's extensive experience in voicing DC Comics characters includes notable roles such as Talia al Ghul in Batman: Death in the Family (2020) and Catwoman: Hunted (2022), Bluebird in the fan-favourite show Young Justice (2010–2023), Noor Rashid in Gotham Knights (2022), and various characters, including supervillain Livewire, in My Adventures with Superman (2023–).
Aside from Fazal's significant contribution to the game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League holds additional significance as it marks the final performance of longtime Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy, who passed away in November 2022. Originally announced in August 2020, the game has faced several delays but was finally released on February 2, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
