People of Pakistan won today: Celebrity reactions pour in as election result is awaited
As the voting spell wore off and people headed to their homes to fixate on the result, many took to the internet to share their thoughts. Among these citizens were Pakistani celebrities, who, after voting for their favourites, shared their varying takes on their respective social media platforms.
Singer Farhan Saeed took to X to share an image of his inked thumb. Commending the people of his country, he wrote alongside, "Pehle farz tha is baar qarz tha (First, it was a duty, this time it was debt.) Well done Pakistan for coming out and voting for your right! This mandate said a lot of things, indeed the best way to speak!" Musician Shehzad Roy, too, shared a selfie of him and his inked thumb, stating alongside, "Dara kar nahi, hara kar jeeto (Win through defeat, not fear)."

On the other hand, singer Asim Azhar had a lot to say about the entire situation. Taking to X, he penned, "Did everything, created all the possible obstacles, network and internet still not on in so many areas and so much more, but still…God is Great. What a story, what a fight. Ya Allah khair." He also stated in another post, "Respect the vote. Respect the public statement. Let truth prevail. InshaAllah."

The musician also wrote on X. "My heart is filled with pride as I see so many Pakistanis and the youth especially coming out in such big numbers even after all the difficulties put in front of us by the ‘system’. Thank you to each and every Pakistani today from the bottom of my heart who have come out and put effort into voting during this complicated time and process. No matter what the result ‘made’ today, we have told everyone that we are awake and will not let the looters eat our country so easily. We will fight. Hum naye bachay hain, aur kafi dheet hain. (We're new kids, and we're quite obstinate)."

Aijaz Aslam and Adnan Siddiqui, after having voted, shared Instagram Stories and a post on the photo-sharing app, asking others to exercise their right to vote. Sonya Hussyn shared a post on Instagram as well, stating in the caption, "Kiyun k, khuda ny bhi us qoam ki haalat nahi badli, na ho jisko yaqeen aap apni halat k badalny ka! (Because even God did not change the state of such a population that did not believe in change)." Actor Osman Khalid Butt took to X to ominously share, "As you sow, so shall you reap."

Syeda Tuba Anwar took to her Instagram Story to share an image of the news, asking her fans and followers if they were as hooked as she was. Fahad Sheikh took to his Instagram Story to joke about how the 2024 election result probably would not come out the same year. However, he added, "People of Pakistan won today."
Maya Ali also took to her Instagram Stories to write, "People have proven and shown a great sense of responsibility to go out and cast their vote and to choose their leader. Now I pray and hope this night passes and the morning brings us hope, happiness and a great change to our country which we all need badly." She added, "It's not about implementation, it's not about people, it's not about punishment. It's all about and only about the system."
Fatima Bhutto, however, had the most unique take on the situation. Taking to the site formerly known as Twitter, she penned, "There is a genocide taking place in the world we live in and I find it very hard to express interest in which party made what deal so whose feckless ‘leader’ can take the top job. This is a miserable masquerade and the people deserve much better than all these men combined. I’ve seen a lot of strange elections, I can’t say I’ve seen many hopeful ones."

She further added, "Let’s see what shape the government takes tomorrow but forgive me for reserving any enthusiasm till everything is done and dusted. (Even then, my enthusiasm for all contenders and all parties couldn’t have been lower)."
