Panel underscores significance of establishing peace for societal well-being

PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (CTA), in partnership with the Department of International Relations at Peshawar University and the International Relations Students Association, organized a two-day Grand Peace Fair aimed at fostering diversity awareness, promoting peace and harmony, and showcasing a positive image of the province and merged areas.

Caretaker Minister for Newly Merged Districts (NMDs), Amir Abdullah, and Brigadier Tashfeen graced the event as chief guests, alongside President of IRSA Ahmad Ali Khan and In charge of IRSA, Dr. Khurshaid.

The first day featured a panel discussion on peace moderated by Dr. Sami Raza, with esteemed panelists including Caretaker Minister for Newly Merged Districts Professor Dr. Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardi and Dr. Amir Raza. Discussions revolved around the prevailing situation in the merged districts and broader national contexts.

The panel underscored the significance of establishing peace for societal well-being, stressing the collective responsibility of every member to pursue this objective despite personal interests or differences. Emphasis was placed on informed decision-making, urging a discerning approach over succumbing to speculations and rumors.

Participants highlighted the pivotal role of events like the Peace Fair in challenging negative narratives, reshaping mindsets, and projecting a more nuanced image of the province and its newly merged districts. Students from the merged districts showcased their cultural heritage through artifacts, including hujra, reflecting tribal customs. Additionally, food stalls offering regional delicacies were set up by students.

The event also featured various cultural performances, including traditional Waziri Attan dances, organized by K-P CTA. Instrumentalists from the newly merged districts captivated the audience with their musical talents, adding vibrancy to the festivities.
