HDA workers demand salaries
The Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) employees are planning to stop the sewage system on Wednesday, January 31, in protest against the prolonged non-payment of salaries and pensions. During a meeting on Sunday, HDA Labour Union Chairman Khalid Ansari, President Sajid Taqi, and CBA Union General Secretary Insaf Ali Lashari expressed concern over the dire financial situation faced by the employees.
According to a statement issued after the meeting at the Central CBA office, Latifabad, Hyderabad, participants discussed the seven months’ outstanding salaries and pensions of sewerage employees across all HDA sub-departments, including DG Office, Housing, PNDC, and WASA. The union officials and executive body members noted that the affected employees, amidst severe inflation, are facing financial hardship and ste to the inability to afford medical treatment, and cases of deaths resulting from the rupture of brain veins have been attrarvation.
Tragically, some workers have reportedly died duibuted to the stress and depression among the workforce. It was emphasized during the meeting that the prevailing administration of the HDA has failed to address the salary and pension issues, exacerbating the suffering of its employees. The HDA labour union issued a warning, stating that if the salaries and pensions are not promptly paid, they reserve the right to shut down the entire sewage system in the Hyderabad district on Wednesday, January 31. The entire responsibility for the outcome of the closure will be placed on the HDA administration.
