Sincere effort to bring two Punjabs closer: Imran Abbas talks cross-border film ‘Jee Ve Sohneya Jee’
Eight years after delighting fans with a guest appearance in Karan Johar’s 2016 Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Pakistani actor Imran Abbas is back with another cross-border collaboration. Making his Punjabi film debut, Abbas will be starring in Jee Ve Sohneya Jee with Indian actor Simi Chahal.
The film’s official trailer premiered on January 25 to much excitement. Written and directed by Thaparr, Jee Ve Sohneya Jee is a love story between a Pakistani boy and an Indian girl, played by Abbas and Chahal respectively. Receiving praise for the on-screen chemistry between the two lead actors, the film promises to be a moving exploration of a love that transcends geographical borders.
Expressing his appreciation for his upcoming project, Abbas took to his Instagram grid with a heartfelt post. The actor shared a picture of himself donning a pink turban paired up with a dashing blue suit and a white dress shirt.
In the post’s caption, he penned a sweet note relaying his sentiments about the film. “Jee Ve Sohneya Jee holds great significance for me. It is more than just a movie. It is a sincere effort to bring two Punjabs and their people even closer,” began the Ehraam-e-Junoon actor.
He furthered on, “It is a gift from me and my team to all those who believe in the power of love that transcends all boundaries. Love is the greatest blessing bestowed upon us by our creator, who made us all regardless of where we live or our origins.” Underlining the hope that such ventures bring for lasting peace and harmony, Abbas added, “Together, we can bring about change and put an end to the culture of hatred that has already caused immense harm to humanity.”
The celeb wrapped up his note with a request to all fans and followers to support the much-anticipated film’s release. “I urge you to watch Jee Ve Sohneya Jee on February 16 and support not only love and peace but also the filmmakers who are advocating for this beautiful cause,” Abbas penned.
Aside from Abbas and Chahal, the film boasts an ensemble cast with some big names from Pollywood including Mintu Kapa, Udaya Vakati, Brian Shaw, Aman Bal and Swaraj Sandhu. The film is set to grace the big screen on February 16.
