BALAKOT:

The Kaghan Valley received the winter’s first snowfall after rain in Balakot and surroundings on Sunday, eliminating pollution from the air and turning the weather more pleasant.

Soon after the rain, a new series of snowfall started on the upper mountains of the Kaghan Valley, ending the drought-like situation in the Hazara division.

The valley’s mountains are now covered with a white layer of snow, while the fire that erupted in the forests is extinguished due to rain and snow. Like the rest of the country, the Kaghan Valley was experiencing drought as mountain streams were drying.

According to the Met Department, rain and snowfall are likely to continue intermittently for the next three days. Up to six inches of snow has been recorded on Babusar Top and other peaks, while up to three feet of snow is expected in the valley in the next two days. The snowfall is expected to create a positive impact on the valley’s weather.

The snowfall was also witnessed in the Swat Valley. Tourists and snowfall lovers thronged different sites in the valleys of Kaghan and Swat to enjoy the first snowfall. The cold breeze increased the chill in these areas forcing tourists to wear additional clothes.
