‘Serious challenges await new govt’
Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Sherpao has said the country is facing serious challenges, including political instability, worsening law and order and rising inflation and the new government coming after the February polls would have to work tirelessly to overcome them.
Addressing an election rally in the Shabqadar area of Charsadda district, he said that economic stability is linked to political stability without which masses cannot be provided economic relief.
The former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister said the new government would have to divert its attention to solving problems like law and order, political instability and rising inflation to give masses some relief.
Sherpao said due to rising inflation the purchasing power of the people has slipped to the lowest level and they cannot cope with any further economic burden.

Referring to international donors, he said that conditions set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were adding to the economic miseries of the masses. The QWP chief said the new government would have to take serious measures to overcome these problems and provide relief to the masses, otherwise the political system would lose credibility.
Referring to the problems of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Sherpao said that despite producing more gas and electricity than it needed, people in the K-P lacked these basic amenities. He said the province is rich in natural resources and there’s a need to utilize them to provide people some relief.
Referring to the upcoming polls, he urged the people to assess candidates thoroughly, especially their past, before voting them to power. Sherpao said he always did politics of service and instead of making false claims he sought public support on the basis of his performance.
The rally was also addressed by QWP candidate for PK-66 Ilyas Jan Khan and other leaders of the party.
