Sharjeel accuses PML-N of backdoor deals, politics of negativity

Sharjeel Inam Memon, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has come down hard on the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), alleging that the party has historically come to power through backdoor deals.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore on Monday, Memon emphasised that the people of Pakistan are now seeking a new way of thinking and political leadership.

Memon highlighted PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari's call for a new way of thinking, stating that Bilawal aims to unite all Pakistanis against common challenges, such as poverty, inflation, and unemployment. He asserted that the PPP is not competing against PML-N or PTI but is focused on addressing the critical issues faced by the nation.

The PPP leader accused the PML-N of attacking institutions during challenging times, claiming that whenever the PML-N faced difficulties, they targeted everyone, including opposition parties and institutions. Memon also criticised the PTI for alleged misconduct against institutions in the past.

According to Memon, PPP leaders have sacrificed their lives for the country, and he attributed the damage to the nation to negative thinking. He praised Chairman Bilawal for promoting positive thinking and urged the public to decide in the upcoming elections on February 8.

Commenting on the recent rally led by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in Lahore, Memon stated that the PML-N leadership is in panic mode. He alleged that PML-N leaders, including Ahsan Iqbal, are making threats in response to the successful PPP rally in what is considered a PML-N stronghold.

Memon refuted the claim that PPP initiated any conflict with PML-N, asserting that it was PML-N that formed an alliance against the PPP in Sindh. He also commented on the internal dynamics of PML-N, stating that Shahbaz Sharif lacks authority within the party, and those influential in PML-N do not tolerate him.

While expressing personal respect for Shahbaz Sharif's past contributions, Memon argued that health facilities are most abundant in Sindh, where the PPP governs. He questioned the PML-N's contributions to government hospitals in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), or Balochistan during their leadership.

Addressing the creation of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Memon credited Bilawal and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari for its establishment.

He concluded by characterising the tenure of PTI founder Imran Khan as the worst period in the country's history and emphasised that his government's removal was achieved through constitutional and legal means.
