Revenue dept bids adieu to manual system
The Revenue Department has put an end to the 76-year-old manual property registry system to switch to the electronic registration (e-registration) of land records from January 15 across Rawalpindi. The switch from manual to electronic registration was completed on Saturday, with all property registrar offices now operating under the new e-system.
Equipped with the latest computers and internet facilities, all registrar offices have undergone this technological transformation.
The Revenue Department anticipates that the shift to e-registration will bring relief to citizens and eradicate corruption and bribery associated with the old system. Under the new system, citizens will self-register their property data online.

Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema dubbed the transition as ‘revolutionary’, highlighting that registries in cantonment areas, the entire city, and all village areas in Rawalpindi will now be conducted online.
The registrar page will load upon entering challan firm numbers for all collected duties and taxes.
The registrar, after online payment of fees and taxes, will record both the buyer and seller's details.
