Use of social media in such matters is wrong: Saba Faisal on public spat with daughter-in-law
Saba Faisal recently appeared on Gup Shab, where she shared insights into her on-screen portrayal of a strict mother-in-law and shed light on her real-life dynamics in the same role. The conversation touched upon misunderstandings, the impact of social media, and the intricacies of personal relationships, especially concerning her son and daughter-in-law.
With a touch of humour, Saba acknowledged that her past public feud was not hidden from anyone and expressed happiness about her second daughter-in-law entering the family, anticipating that it would answer many questions.
Reflecting on her initial experiences as a mother-in-law, she emphasised that the involved parties often struggle to understand each other in the early stages of any relationship. "I'm very happy that my second daughter-in-law has come, so I believe that a lot of questions will be answered," she said.
Saba addressed the common challenges faced by households, emphasising that the use of social media exacerbates these issues. Being in the limelight, she acknowledged that their problems receive more attention, but she stressed that similar problems exist in every household. Saba highlighted the misuse of social media in such matters, emphasizing its negative impact on personal relationships.
"See, first experiences in any relationship, involved parties don't understand," she explained. "I had become a mother-in-law for the first time. My daughter-in-law, too, obviously, had gone to another home for the first time. Things happen, it's not necessary that it's one person's fault. But I think the use of social media in such matters is wrong. Every household is facing these types of issues. Because we're in the limelight, perhaps that's why our issues are highlighted."
When asked to compare the difficulty between portraying a mother-in-law on-screen versus real life, Saba candidly admitted that it's harder in real life. Despite expressing appreciation for her daughter-in-law and acknowledging her greatness, she acknowledged the potential for misunderstandings that can be fueled and worsened by external factors, including public scrutiny. "MashAllah, my daughter-in-law is great but somewhere, a misunderstanding can occur that people fan flames and that the situation worsens," she stated.
Saba's candid conversation provides a glimpse into the complexities of personal relationships, navigating misunderstandings, and the challenges posed by the use of social media in today's interconnected world. The actor encouraged a nuanced understanding of these issues, recognizing that every family faces similar struggles, albeit not always under the spotlight.
Previously, Saba made a guest appearance on a local show where she discussed how she came out stronger from the controversy regarding her relationship with Neha Salman. Reflecting on the situation, Saba acknowledged her mistake and stated that she could have dealt with things differently.
“I was involved in a major controversy a few days ago, and I believe that it was my fault. I unnecessarily spoke about something but then I learnt from my naive and immature behaviour. I learnt that I should have ignored or avoided it,” she stated. Saba further added that she now practises patience over impulsive behaviours. “It would have been wise to simply ignore or handle it with silence. Now, I know that when something happens, I should just stay quiet about it.”
Saba had criticised Neha for breaking up her family. In a three-minute-long video, the actor revealed that she has severed ties with her son, Salman Faisal and his wife of four years, Neha, due to irrevocable differences. The actor claimed that she had lived “a very difficult life for the last four years” and was worried about her son’s life with a “negative” person like Neha.
Asking her followers, and fans to not be judgmental, the actor relayed, "You can't judge us on such comments. I am not asking you to decide without listening to the other side of the story nor am I holding anyone accountable. I am only saying Salman can live with his wife if he wishes, but we have decided to part ways with him as a family." However, after backlash from industry colleagues and fans, she eventually decided to remove the video and later issued an apology.
