ISLAMABAD:

The country’s top judge, Qazi Faez Isa, will not be part of any bench for two days—January 19 and January 20. During this period, the chief justice of Pakistan will work in his chamber on some important legal issues, according to sources in the Supreme Court.

When a judge is said to be performing duties in his chamber, it means that he is carrying out various judicial tasks or responsibilities in his private office within the courthouse.

The judge's chamber is a private workspace where he reviews case materials, studies legal arguments, writes opinions, and makes decisions on matters related to the cases assigned to him.

It is a more private and focused environment compared to the open court, allowing the judge to conduct research, consider legal arguments, and engage in deliberations away from the public courtroom setting.

Activities in the judge's chamber contribute to the overall legal process and decision-making in a court.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has appointed Punjab Police Additional Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Kamran Adil for assistance in multiple cases related to the service of employees of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Police Department.

A three-member bench led by Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Thursday appointed Adil as the amicus curiae during a brief hearing of 13 technical cases regarding promotions and transfers of police officers. The court instructed the relevant office to provide records related to the case and scheduled a further hearing for two weeks.
