‘Govt officials can’t engage in political activities’

Officials are strictly prohibited from posting on social media any content related to elections and politics

Lahore District Returning Officer (DRO) Chaudhry Muhammad Arshad has directed the heads of departments to ensure that no government official engages in political activities, including rallies and corner meetings, in order to preserve the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.

He said a government officials were also strictly prohibited to post on social media any content related to elections and politics.

DRO Arshad emphasised that all candidates must seek permission from the administration for organising any rally or procession.

He warned that strict action would be taken against violators of the election rules, those organising processions and rallies without permission and brandishing weapons. The DRO said stern warning had been issued to officials failing to participate in the training sessions for the polling staff.

Meanwhile, Sheikhupura DRO Dr Waqar Ali Khan chaired a meeting to assess preparations for the General Elections 2024. Participants were informed that security had been heightened around sensitive polling stations and CCTV cameras installed at all relevant locations.
