KARACHI:

Recent revelations expose the questionable nature of a police encounter near Site Metroville Pathan Colony, which took place four days ago. The police had purportedly arrested two suspects, including an injured individual, in the encounter. A video circulating on social media reveals plainclothes officers placing weapons near the injured youth and extracting money from their pockets.

The injured individual, identified as Muhammad Abbas, an 18-year-old second-year student, was allegedly shot during the encounter. His father, Naik Zada, has denounced the incident as "fake" and is seeking justice from Additional IG and IG Sindh. Abbas is currently undergoing treatment at the civil hospital trauma center, having sustained bullets to the spine and hip, resulting in paralysis.

In the video, one injured youth is seen lying on the ground while plainclothes officers hold another. The footage captures officers taking cash from the victims' pockets. The police had initially registered a case against Abbas and his friend Ibrahim, who was also present during the alleged encounter.

Naik Zada contends that Abbas was mistaken for robbers by plainclothes officers near the Shaheed graveyard, leading to the tragic incident. He emphasized his son's lack of criminal history, stating, "My son is not a bandit, nor a thief." The widely shared social media footage further shows a plainclothes officer placing a pistol next to the injured boy.

Expressing his plea for justice, Naik Zada called upon Pakistan's Chief Justice, Additional IG, and IG Sindh. He urged severe action and punishment for the plainclothes officers involved in the staged encounter to prevent such incidents from recurring and to safeguard the rights of innocent individuals. The father questioned the continued oppression and killing of innocent people by the police and called for an end to such practices.
