Five wounded in pile-up amidst dense fog

At least 13 people were killed, 1,195 were injured in 1,100 RTCs across 37 districts of Punjab

At least five people were injured in a traffic collision amid intense fog and slippery road conditions near Phoolnagar on Tuesday.

According to rescue sources, a tragic accident occurred on Multan Road near Phoolnagar, as a dozen vehicles collided due to low visibility and unfavourable road conditions. Five people sustained injuries in the pile-up.

They have been identified as 20-year-old Rizwan, 22-year-old Salim, 25-year-old Jabar, 36-year-old Amir, and 55-year-old Rahmat.

Rescue teams reached the site and transferred the casualties to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, at least 13 people were killed and 1,195 were injured in 1,100 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) reported across all 37 districts of Punjab during the past 24 hours. Of the injured, 572 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 623 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams.

The majority of RTCs, 72 percent, involved motorbikes.

Further analysis showed that 631 drivers, 39 underage drivers, 140 pedestrians and 437 passengers were among the victims of RTCs.

The statistics show that 172 RTCs were reported in Lahore with 194 victims, placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list.

Faisalabad followed behind with 76 RTCs and 88 victims and Gujranwala at third with 61 RTCs and 55 victims.

The details further reveal that 1,208 victims were affected by RTCs, including 978 males and 230 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 162 were under 18 years of age, 711 were between 18 and 40 years old and the remaining 335 victims were reportedly above 40 years of age.

According to the data, 919 motorbikes, 58 rickshaws, 131 cars, 24 vans, 19 passenger buses, 30 trucks and 125 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the aforementioned.
