Crackdown against helmetless bikers on the cards

As many as 300,000 people obtained learner licenses in 2022, compared to 2,750,000 in 2023

LAHORE:

Traffic police launched a new crackdown targeting motorcyclists in the provincial capital who do not wear helmets on Tuesday. According to statistics, 2,270,000 motorcycle riders broke helmet laws this year.

Starting on January 1st 2024, license fees are going to increase and traffic police will now impose fines of Rs2,000 for not wearing helmets. As many as 300,000 people obtained learner licenses in 2022, compared to 2,750,000 in 2023, highlighting a major increase in licenced drivers.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Amara Athar addressed a press conference regarding the helmet enforcement campaign and driving licenses on Mall Road.
