At least two passengers dead as Parachinar-bound bus comes under attack in Hangu

Four people were also wounded in the incident, and their condition is said to be critical

A passenger bus travelling from Peshawar to Parachinar in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu came under attack by unidentified assailants, resulting in the death of two passengers and leaving four others injured, Express News reported.

According to local police, the bus was en route to Parachinar when it was targeted by armed individuals within the jurisdiction of the City Police Station.

As a consequence of the firing, two passengers lost their lives on the spot, while six sustained severe injuries. The wounded were promptly transferred to DHQ Hospital Hangu for immediate medical assistance.

District Police Officer (DPO) Nisar Ahmed Khan visited the hospital, expressed condolences, and said that a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators has been initiated.

Hospital authorities report that the condition of the four injured passengers is critical.

Earlier this month, at least 10 people lost their lives and 25 others were injured when a passenger bus came under gunfire by unidentified men on Karakoram Highway in Chilas town, Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Diamer Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Arif Ahmad said the tragic incident occurred at 6:30pm in the Hudur area of Chilas when the bus came under fire and went on to collide with an oncoming truck.

No group had claimed responsibility for the attack and the motive for the shooting was not clear.
