Religious harmony stressed on Christmas

KARACHI:

The minority Christian community in the city celebrated its festive occasion of Christmas with joy and cheer. Special programmes were held in churches across the provincial capital to celebrate the festival.

Residential colonies of Christian community were decorated with twinkling lights and stars. Churches were decorated with colorful lights and illuminated with Christmas trees.

The government had made elaborate security arrangements to avert any untoward incident on this occasion. Caretaker Sindh Minister for Minority Affairs Muhammad Ahmad Shah, marked a significant moment of unity by visiting Karachi's historic St Patrick's Cathedral and Holy Trinity Cathedral Church.

Accompanied by Chief Minister Sindh, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar), the leaders participated in the Christmas celebrations to foster religious harmony in the country.

Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori visited St Andrew's Church in Saddar.

Speaking on this occasion, the Governor Sindh congratulated the Christian community of Pakistan and the whole world and said that he is writing a letter to the federation to increase the job quota for the Christian community by 10 per cent.

He said that the all doors of the Governor's House are open for the Christians. He said the message of Christmas is to spread the message of peace and prosperity in the world, a symbol of peace, brotherhood and respect to Jesus. It is believed that Jesus healed humanity by preaching tolerance, love and compassion, he said.
