The railway police thwarted a potential disaster on the Awam Express came to Karachi Cantt Station from Peshawar.

Following the report of a suspicious bag, panic spread among passengers as the police swiftly responded.

Upon inspection, the bag in cabin No 5 contained wires, batteries, and other items, prompting the immediate removal of the bag from the train.

The bomb disposal unit was called to prevent a potential catastrophe.

DIG South Asad Raza informed that the BDU successfully defused the improvised explosive device (IED).

The homemade bomb, weighing 5kg with 2kg of explosives in a steel barrel, was found on Friday. An investigation has been initiated involving railway police, staff, and CTD police to apprehend the perpetrator.

Railway officials highlighted security measures at major stations on Peshawar to Karachi route, expressing concern that the terrorist may have boarded from a smaller station.

Tickets for seats 71 and 72 are under scrutiny, and security has been heightened at Cantt Station. SSP Railways, Karachi division, Shoukat Ali Khatian, informed that Punjab and Peshawar police collaborate to share information and enhance station security measures.
