Khosa appointed PTI SVP

Former Punjab governor says he will contest upcoming polls from Lahore

Sardar Latif Khosa : File

RAWALPINDI:

PTI founder Imran Khan has appointed Sardar Latif Khosa as the senior vice president (SVP) of the party while the latter announced that he would contest the upcoming general elections from Lahore.

Former Punjab governor Khosa, who had parted ways with the PPP and recently joined the PTI, on Wednesday while speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail, said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a reference in connection with the Toshakhana (gift repository) case earlier in the day but it had not provided them with its copies.

He added that their bail applications had been adjourned till December 27. Khosa claimed that the PTI candidates were facing difficulties in receiving nomination papers.

He continued that the party would file petitions in all high courts against its candidates not being provided with the papers.
The new SVP of the PTI complained that the party was also facing difficulties in obtaining scrutiny certificates. “Only two days are left, we hope that the courts will give us justice.

According to the Constitution and law, a candidate should have no problem in obtaining nomination papers,” he continued. Khosa maintained that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif wanted the next general elections to be conducted in accordance with his will and wanted no one to be his opponent in the field.

Taking a jibe at his former party, he claimed that the PPP had abandoned the politics of the people. “Now it [PPP] is engaged in the politics of power,” he added. Khosa further said that now the matter of declaring the PTI prohibited had passed, the party would contest the elections from jail.

“We will file the nomination papers of Imran Khan,” he said, warning the people who had resorted to “cruelty and abuse” to fear the wrath of the Almighty.
