Govt to give land for 40 ‘smart police stations’

LAHORE:

The Punjab government will allocate land for setting up ‘smart police stations’ in the province.

Instructions in this regard were issued during a meeting convened to review the construction, repair and rehabilitation of 737 police stations across the province.

The participants of the meeting presided over by Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi were informed that the construction of 40 smart police stations was slated to be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

The initial phase will witness the establishment of 23 smart police stations in Lahore and 17 in other districts.

The caretaker CM emphasised the phased conversion of conventional police stations into smart ones throughout the province.

He issued directives for expeditious allocation and transfer of land for every police station lacking its own premises. A project for the construction of 313 houses for police employees was also discussed.

Meanwhile, a proposal to establish a treatment centre drug addicts in the Data Darbar Hospital was reviewed in another meeting.
