Missing persons: SC resumes hearing today

The Supreme Court will hear a number of missing persons’ cases, besides four pleas of habeas corpus in the current week commencing from Monday.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Nasirul Mulk and Justice Tariq Parvez will conduct proceedings. Additional Attorney General for Pakistan Karim Khan Agha is to apprise the bench about compliance of its earlier order regarding the nomination of a new head of the Inquiry Commission on Enforced Disappearances. On August 9, a bench directed the government to nominate a new head of the commission as progress on missing persons cases had come to a halt. According to the latest report by the commission submitted before the apex court, a total of 104 missing persons have been recorded so far.
