One dead as water tanker rams into house

Rest of people in house buried under debris

KARACHI:

A water tanker rammed into a house in Baldia Ittihad Town killing a man and injuring three others, including a child and teenage girl.

According to police, the deceased was identified as 40-year-old Amir Tawfiq, while the injured included his 45-year-old brother, Nasir Hussain Tawfiq, his two-year-old daughter Manahil and 13-year-old Raheela Ali. Raheela was a guest.

Locals told the media that most of the lanes in the area are steeply inclined. At the time of the incident, a water tanker had come to pour water into a house. The driver had come out of the tanker and placed a cement block behind the tyre to stop it from moving. However, the block cracked sending the water tanker rolling down the lane.

The tanker truck came roaring down the lane and rammed into the house of Tawfiq, killing him instantly, while the rest of the people in the house got buried under the debris.
