RMC finalises projects worth Rs2b
The Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation has finalised plans for the carpeting of key city roads, along with the establishment of a park at the Pir Wadhai General Bus Stand and a mini Sports ground at Khayaban-e-Sir Syed. These projects worth Rs2 billion, received approval from the caretaker Punjab chief minister.
According to sources, tenders for the approved projects are set to be issued today. Contractual obligations include completing the development schemes within the specified time and meeting predefined standards.
They said the city has initiated the second phase of road carpeting after a year-long hiatus in Municipal Corporation development projects. In the initial phase, roads like Jamia Masjid Road and Kashmiri Bazaar underwent carpeting and concrete work. Now, additional roads in the city suffering from potholes and dilapidation are slated for upgrading, as approved by Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Rawalpindi commissioner and Municipal Corporation Administrator Liaquat Ali Chatha has formally endorsed the road infrastructure upgrade, instructing the awarding of contracts for projects including Circular Road, Bagh-e-Sardaran Road, Ratta Amaral Road, Zafarul Haq Road, Shah Najaf Road, and Tyre Bazar Road. These projects aim to rehabilitate the full width of roads through comprehensive carpeting and concreting.
Additionally, plans for constructing a park at the Pir Wadhai General Bus Stand and a mini sports ground at Khayaban-e-Sir Syed have been developed.
