To hell with Instagram: Zahid Ahmed lashes out after his post about 'terrorism' gets removed

Actor expressed his frustration over censorship online

Zahid Ahmed is not taking Instagram’s censorship lightly.

The Mere Ban Jao actor has shared his disdain after the photo-sharing app allegedly removed a post of his about the “real face of terrorism”.

Taking to social media on Thursday, Ahmed penned, “Never thought I would witness it myself but Instagram has removed my last post about the faces of [Benjamin] Netanyahu, Rishi Sunak and [Joe] Biden being the real terrorists.” Lashing out at those running the app, he added, “To hell with you Instagram. Will love to see you burn in hell on judgement day.”

Zahid’s deleted post is still available on his public Facebook profile. A widely circulated post on social media, it juxtaposes the mainstream depiction of terrorists as being bearded men in turbans wearing shalwar kameez, with those who call the shots in suits.

Sparing any subtleties, the post outright dubs Netanyahu, Sunak and Biden as “terrorists” as Israel continues to bomb Gaza, killing thousands of innocent civilians in its alleged war against Hamas.

“My dear, you are losing tens of thousands of fans across India and other parts of the world by issuing unnecessary statements on Kashmir and the recent war of Israel and Hamas. You are one of the finest actors. Limit yourself to your field...” a user warned. “People are on Instagram and cursing Instagram, it's better to leave this app,” added another.

“Your post was removed and my account was suspended for 24 hours just because I left a comment about how Facebook is restricting Palestine related content. Seriously I didn’t use any profanity or curse words. Yet they suspended my account,” a user shared. “I knew it was going to happen. That's why I took a screenshot. Yesterday I posted a video about boycotting Zara and some brands. I received a warning regarding my account,” another alleged.

A user pointed out, “When I could no longer see the post, I thought about the same. Instagram has been deleting accounts for supporting Palestine. @sheikhassimalhakeem 's account was shadow banned and he received several notices for giving an opinion. It reflects the hegemonic rule of the west.”

A fan assured the actor, “The evil propaganda machine is working hard to silence the truth. Keep posting and more to you!”
