Vawda hails Nawaz’s acquittal
Former senator Faisal Vawda on Thursday said PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif acquittal proved that he was treated “unfairly” in the past, adding that they accepted the former premier’s exoneration in court cases “whole-heartedly”.
Talking to a private TV channel, the former senator questioned what action will be taken against those who had convicted Nawaz earlier now that he was set free.
He asked what would happen if the decision on PML-N supremo’s fate is proved wrong in future.
On PPP’s request to the apex court to take up Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s hanging case, Vawda said history had declared that the PPP’s founder hanging was a judicial murder.
He asked what treatment will be meted out to those who had given the orders to execute Bhutto.
The former senator questioned under which law during Imran Khan's government the courts were opened at midnight to take a vote of no confidence against the then premier.
He further asked under which law PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari was kept in prison, and that what would happen to those who had ordered the demolition of Nasla Tower in Karachi.
He urged to have a second thought on their vacations in view of the backlog of thousands of pending cases of the poor.
He further bemoaned that the country suffered losses of billions in the Reko Dik case but no action was taken.
Vawda regretted that corruption in the society was rampant, noting that widows on the streets were seeking justice and people were dying in jails without medication.
